In this month’s installment of our Veteran Non-Profit Spotlight, we shine a light on The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare. The organization provides personalized, confidential mental health care to veterans and their families at no cost. We caught up with Tanya Mac, head of Marketing & Community Engagement, to learn more about the important work they’re engaged in.
Describe the work your organization does and who you endeavor to help.
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare provides quality, accessible, and comprehensive mental health care to post-9/11 veterans, regardless of role or discharge status, and military families, regardless of ability to pay. Our team works to strengthen mental health outcomes and complement existing support, with a particular focus on post-traumatic stress. Through our services, our goal each and every day is to ensure that our clients are able lead fulfilling and productive lives.
Also, the Cohen Clinic at Metrocare uses evidenced-based practices by trained and credentialed staff with a holistic approach to improving the quality of life for our clients. Veterans and family members can receive services both individually and as a family unit at the same place with the same treatment team.
If someone asked you about your organization, whats the one most important aspect or takeaway you’d want them to remember?
Every day, many veterans and their families are living with the mental and physical scars from serving their country during military service. Through our client-centered, customized outpatient care, we support veterans and their families as they begin their next mission: healthy and happy lives. In addition to providing mental health care services, we help connect veteran families to community resources and services, as necessary.
What’s the single biggest ‘push’ or area of focus for your organization right now?
We are noticing that our telehealth mental health care is very helpful to our clients. The same high-quality care available at the Cohen Clinic at Metrocare is also available via a computer, tablet or phone. Our clients can receive therapy in the privacy and comfort of their own home via an online, secure option.
What’s the biggest single need your organization has right now?
Since we are closely connected to the community, we are always interested in partnerships with other organizations and corporate entities. In order to extend the impact of the start-up funding provided to our clinic by philanthropist Steven A. Cohen, we are actively working to secure local philanthropic support as part of a long-term sustainment strategy, which will sustain, advance, and endow our clinic now and into the future.

About Holloway Benefit Concepts
HBC was founded in early 2011 by Ryan Holloway. After serving over 8 years on active duty in the US Marine Corps, Ryan transitioned from being a full-time marine into an HR professional in early 2003. This began a journey and awoke a passion for helping companies who value their employees. After spending time working with a COBRA and FSA Administrator, an insurance company, and a large brokerage, Ryan realized that there were more unique and creative solutions for businesses than other companies were willing or able to realize. Seizing on his own entrepreneurial spirit, Ryan set out to found an independent agency designed to provide unique and original insurance solutions.
